This isn’t your grandmother’s Austen! Bold, surprising, boisterous, and timely, this Pride and Prejudice for a new era explores the absurdities and thrills of finding your perfect (or imperfect) match in life.

This production of Pride and Prejudice is Ava Francisco’s MFA thesis in Costume Design at Indiana University Bloomington. Adapted by Kate Hamill, the play embraces a whimsical and theatrical Regency world where eight actors portray fourteen characters through playful transformations and visible costume changes. The design draws from early 19th-century silhouettes while incorporating handmade textures, soft pastel color palettes, and layered garments that allow actors to shift between roles quickly and clearly. The costumes support the production’s buoyant tone, celebrating romance, family chaos, and the joyful absurdity of Austen’s social world
